ABOUT ME
Amy Zitur
O.T. & Child Development Expert
Amy graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Master of Occupational Therapy in 2012. She has worked in a variety of pediatric settings including outpatient, school-based, Autism day treatment, and in-home therapy. Amy's approach to treatment is simple: child-led and family centered. She truly believes when we include parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. (even pets!) - the whole family thrives. Amy's foundational knowledge of sensory integration and child development assists in discovery of the root challenges while providing a framework for treatment.
Outside of work Amy enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, traveling, doing pilates and yoga, and spending time with her family. She currently resides in Florida and is a mom to 4-year-old twins (who get OT'd daily!) and two golden retrievers. Her hands are full - but you should see her heart!

MY APPROACH
Sensory. Movement. Learning
As humans, we're all sensory beings. We each have preferences; things we like and things we don't like that make us who we are. At Pause & Play, we embrace each individuals sensory preferences and use them as an avenue for growth and change.
With a strong foundation of sensory processing and integration skills, we learn to coordinate, plan, and execute body movements to carry out fun and FUNctional tasks! Movement and engagement with the environment is the essence of learning.
Along with being sensory beings, we are wired to be life long learners. Our brains take in 11 million bits of information from our senses every second. With the brain only able to process 120 bits at any given second, much of what we take in is lost... unless that input gets paid attention to, manipulated (or acted on), and therefore connected to past experiences to create new learning! A child's occupation is play, and it's through play that we all learn about ourselves, others, and the world around us.
